CEED is most suited to full-time Undergraduate, Honours and coursework Masters students (rather than part-time) because there is a requirement to spend a minimum of 3 days/week working on the CEED project, throughout the semester.

This amount of time (minimum of 3 days/week) allows the student to gain momentum on the project, feel a part of the company’s project team, gain access to company staff for mentoring/queries, experience what it’s like to work in a real industry environment (on a daily basis), etc.  The student works on-site with their industry partner throughout the project, unless it is agreed otherwise.

The amount of time that students spend on their project (at the company’s premises) relates to the number of credit points / units allocated by their course/degree at their particular University (it varies).  Below is a guide:

University of Queensland (UQ)

4 units                          3 days/week      (most final year ITEE students)
6 units                          4 days/week      (final year Mechanical Engineering, some Masters)
8 units                          5 days/week      (some Masters students)

Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

24 credit points              3 days/week      (most Masters students)
36 credit points              4 days/week      (most final year Engineering)
48 credit points              5 days/week      (final year Mechanical Engineering, 36cps from 2009)

University of Southern Queensland (USQ)

2 units                          3 days/week      (most final year Engineering)
3 units                          4 days/week
4 units                          5 days/week      (some Masters students)

If you’re unsure how many units/credit points you will receive for enrolling in/completing a CEED project, please check with your course co-ordinator or email ceed@corptech.com.au.  Note that students usually need to spend time additional to the above (i.e. working at home/uni), when developing their project plan/proposal, developing their oral presentation and writing their thesis/report. Students should ask their company supervisor for flexibility/time off around exam time, once their exam timetable is confirmed.  Any other absences (ie for medical appointments) should be discussed/agreed in advance with their company supervisor.
