Boral Plasterboard - Update of ISO9001:2000 audit procedures

Update of ISO9001:2000 audit procedures – Boral Plasterboard (Master of Engineering Management)

Boral Plasterboard is Australia’s leading manufacturer of plasterboard and related products and systems.

Chris Killalea of Boral Plasterboard identified that the company’s internal and external documented procedures required review.

Chris appointed Miss Atchara Suwanmanee (QUT Master of Engineering Management student) to the project. At the start of the project, Atchara had to become familiar with the company’s ISO9001:2000 and quality manuals along with their last audit report (internal and external).

The next step was to identify which documents required review/updating. These reviews/interviews were conducted by Atchara, with assistance from her supervisor at Boral, Paul Smyth, and the staff working in each area of the factory. This approach ensured that the factory staff understood the importance of the project and gave Atchara the assistance that she needed, enabling her to fully document the necessary procedures.

The final stage of the project involved Atchara revising the internal audit procedures, to ensure that they were easy to follow and worked effectively.

Paul Smyth and Chris Killalea were very pleased with the result of Atchara’s project and said that she did an “excellent job”. Boral Plasterboard now have an improved Quality Management System, and were prepared for their next ISO9001:2000 audit.
