- Expenditure may be claimable under AusIndustry’s R&D tax concession scheme, designed to encourage industry R&D programs (eg. project fee, supervisor's time, software / materials purchased for project, etc) - projects can pay for themselves
Fast facts:
- Wide range of students available via CEED (final year undergraduate and Masters level) – project-based, assessed, supervised
- Four partner Universities: QUT, Uni of Qld, Uni of Southern Qld, Uni of Sydney
- Student availability for company projects: November/December, February, and July each year
- Project duration: usually one semester (~15 weeks) @ 3 days/week. Projects can also incorporate Summer vacation (ie. summer vacation + 1st semester = end-Nov/early Dec to June = ~26 weeks). Students can work 5 days/week over summer vacation. Depending on their course structure, some students are also available whole-year (ie. 1st + 2nd semester = February to November)
- Project fee payable by clients: $10,250+GST (one semester) or $13,250+GST for 'extended' timeframe projects (eg. summer vacation + 1st semester or 1st + 2nd semester). The student receives an extra $3,000 scholarship for working on 'extended' projects
- Included in fee: Student scholarship, Insurances, Intellectual Property ownership (and confidentiality if needed), hands-on recruitment and quality management services, troubleshooting if needed (for clients and students), academic supervision
- Regular clients include: Oracle, Carlton & United Breweries, Airbus Group, Downer Mining, Hastings Deering, Amcor, to name a few – plus local and state government departments
