Marketing of Virtual Reality Products for VR Solutions  

When VR Solutions (VRS) wanted fresh input to their 2010 marketing plan, they took on a Marketing student via CEED, to provide that expertise. VRS design, supply and support products and integrated solutions that are required for simulation and visualisation projects, including virtual reality. 

VRS’ skills encompass the latest in technologies used in complex Audio, Video and Data transmission hardware.

Juan Castiblanco, a Master of Business – Marketing (Advanced) student from QUT was chosen for the project - to complement the company’s in-house marketing skills, as well as to contribute his knowledge and experience of online marketing. 

The company is currently diversifying their product range and distribution, and Juan’s marketing plan will look at how to integrate current marketing and sales activities to support VRS’ new products ... especially focusing on their second quarter activities. 

Juan’s primary project objective is to re-design and align the marketing strategy that will allow VRS to achieve their revenue target as well as give strategic and market direction for the company ... in line with their long term vision. 

Juan will start by researching and analyzing company and market information in order to understand their current situation – he will conduct interviews with VRS staff, review previous projects, VRS website and suppliers’ brochures, plus other information sources.

From his research findings, Juan will re-design the corporate website for Australia, propose a creative online marketing strategy for Asia Pacific which aligns corporate branding and current marketing agency activities with the proposed (customer-focused) marketing plan, as well as future public relations tactics. 

Juan will conduct a pre-test of the proposed artwork by interviewing trustworthy partners to examine whether the printed advertising and web concept is appropriate.  Once the advertising campaign is implemented, Juan recommends measuring the campaign’s effectiveness by conducting a tracking study. 

During his 3 month project, Juan will work closely with the VRS team, along with the company’s marketing agency, web designer, copywriter and graphic designer.   

According to Mike Bosworth from VRS, Juan is "formulating a marketing plan that will align the company's distribution message to its customers using a number of media types which will include the web site, and electronic news letters.

These materials will relay the company message with the aim of attracting potential and existing customers to a major product launch and trade show to be held in the next few months.

It is critical that VR Solutions is able to communicate to its customer base and we believe that this new strategy will achieve this goal", Mike said.
